About Sarah Hannon

smileyHi! My name is Sarah Hannon.  I have been a teacher with Okmulgee Public Schools for 21 years.  I have taught grades Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade.  I have been teaching Kindergarten for 16 years.  After having taught grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th, I decided that I wanted to go to a lower grade and try to catch problems that students were having in reading and math at an earlier age.  Kindergarten is a awesome grade to help build that foundation for the student.  It is wonderful to work with the students and see the progress during the school year.  In the grades that I have taught, Kindergarten allows you to see the largest growth in learning.

On a more personal note, I have been married for 38 years to a wonderful person named Billy Hannon.  I have lived in Okmulgee since 1980.  I have one son, named Billy Hannon, Jr.  He is an awesome son.  He is married to Holly Hannon, and they have two sons.  So, I am Grandma, and my grandsons are Connor Hannon and Colin Hannon.

I look forward to working with your child.  You will see amazing growth, as your child experiences this grade level.  Please keep in mind that Kindergarten is no longer the Kindergarten that you experienced.  Kindergarten can be compared to what you would have experienced during the first semester of first grade.   Please do not think of it as a "play time."  We are strongly academic based, inorder to have your child ready for the first grade.  I look forward to working with you and your child on this journey.
